Catherine Whall Smith . . . wonders what will you discover this Columbus Day Week-end

So much to take in this week-end – the list is long but here are two events you might want to check out. First there is the Arts Center Killingworth and Spectrum Gallery 11th Annual Autumn Arts Festival.  You will have the opportunity to shop art from  tri-state artists, enjoy a variety of food options and listen to live music.  Admission is free and there is 0% chance of rain! SHOW DATES:  Saturday, October 10 (9:30-5pm)  with Jazzman Duo (1-4pm);  Sunday, October 11 (12-5pm) with Jan Jungden Trio (1-4pm).  Rain Date:  Monday, October 12 (10-5pm).  LOCATION:  Madison Town Green  (Boston Post Road at Copse Road, Madison, CT).  The festival presents award-winning artists and fine artisans from the tri-state region, including representational and abstract painters working in oil, acrylic and pastel, as well as photographers, potters, glass artisans and jewelry designers. Artisans exhibiting on the Green feature those working with mixed media collage, wood, glass, fabric, silver, copper and semi-precious stones.  And, Second, how about traveling to another part of the state Art Center East, located in Vernon, CT 709 Hartford Turnpike, Vercon, CT http://www.vernonarts.org  to view “Celebration of Fiber Arts” Show dates: October 11th – November 7th, 2015 – 709 Hartford Turnpike, Vernon, CT 06066 (860) 871-8222. http://www.vernonarts.org OPENING RECEPTION, Sunday, October 11th. 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Hours: Thursday – Sunday 1-5 p.m. Three pieces by CWSmith were juried into this show.
