Being in the moment:  “In our highly complex information sharing society, I feel the pressure to participate so that is why at this stage in my life, my art is about being in and sharing a “moment in time.” It only exists for that moment–and I attempt to capture that moment with my digital images. Enlarged hay images show fragmented lines, each one the stimulus for a quilt that explores how simple lines create visual space.  My final connection with each piece is hand stitching repetitive lines across the quilts surface.   Thousands of tiny stitches allow me to once again be “in the moment” as three layers merge into one and my art transforms from a flat surface to one with texture, drape, and dimension.

My goal is to continue narrating the stories of my rural environment while developing the language of the line.   I invite the viewer of my art to consider and continue this dialogue.”

2017 – “Local Color: Stories of Our Members” @ The Slater Memorial Museum in Norwich, CT. June 11th through August 4th. A dual exhibition presented by Studio Art Quilt Associates members from the Connecticut region and the Northern California/Nevada region. Two of my pieces “Lyme Disease” and “Storm Coming” have been juried into this traveling exhibition.

2017 – CAFA 106th Annual Exhibition 2017, June 16 – July 29, 2017.  Jurors Emilia Dubicki and Deborah Quinn-Munson.  “Tying Up the Hay #9” was juried into this show. Host Gallery Mystic Museum of Art George G. King, Executive Director. Opening Reception will take place on Thursday, June 29th from 5:30 – 7:30pm.

2017 – Windham Textile & History Museum (WTHM) –Invitational Fiber Art/Quilt Show– “Locally Inspired” – includes work by 20 Fiber Artists. June 1st – June 30th, 2017. 411 Main Street and 159 Union Street; Willimantic, CT 06226 http://www.millmuseum.org . Also a one-day event celebrating Quilting and the Fiber Arts on June 10th.

2017 – Artist Cooperative Gallery of Westerly, R. I. Regional Art Exhibit May 3rd – 28th. Opening May 5th, 5:00- 8:00 p.m. Three of my pieces have been juried into this show: “Hay For Sale”, “Tying Up the Hay #7”, and “Tying Up the Hay #12” . “Tying Up the Hay #7” received the Alice Clark Hubbard Fine Crafts Award.

2017 – Connecticut Women Artists Member’s Juried Show – Art League of New Britain, New Britain, CT. 
April 1 – 28, Opening Reception and Award Ceremony: April 1, 2:00 – 4:00 pm
 Closing Reception: April 28, 6:00 – 8:00 pm. “Tying Up the Hay #5” was juried into this show. Juror – Roxanne Stachelek is Executive Director of the West Hartford Art League.  Exhibition Details  The Connecticut Women Artists organization was founded 88 years ago in 1929 when thirteen women artists exhibited at the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford, CT. One of this country’s oldest continuing art organizations for women, CWA now has over 200 elected members. NOTE: Two senior high school award winners of Scholastic ART CWA Portfolio Award will be invited to show their work in this exhibit.

2017 – “Go Red for Women ® “ luncheon to be held on February 24, 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the Park Plaza Hotel

2017 – The 73rd Annual Connecticut Artists Exhibition at The Slater Memorial Museum, Norwich, CT – all media show. January 22 – March 17, 2017. Juror – Patricia Hickson, the Emily Hall Tremaine Curator of Contemporary Art at the Wadsworth Antheneum, Hartford, CT. “Tying Up the Hay #7” was juried into this show. 2017“MixMaster” – Juried Members Exhibition at the Mattatuck Museum, Waterbury, CT. January 29, 2017 – March 19, 2017. OPENING RECEPTION:Sunday, January 29, 1:00-3:00 p.m. – “Tying Up the Hay #8” was juried into this show. MIXMASTER seeks to discover and recognize the talents of artists in the New England and tri-state region. Created to encourage contemporary art, this exhibition provides an opportunity for established and emerging artists to debut their latest work. Works were selected by Juror Meg White, Director, Gallery NAGA, Boston, MA.
