Catherine Whall Smith shares good news

You still have time to visit the Artist’s Cooperative Gallery of Westerly – 7 Canal Street, Westerly Rhode Island (401-596-2221) to view the art in their 21st Regional Show which was juried by Roberta Richman.  Because I was at the Studio Art Quilt Associates Conference in Alexandria, Virginia I was not able to attend the opening – but upon my return I received  some good news in the mail.  My piece “Rolled Hay” had won the Mabel Kingsbury Fentress Prize for Crafts. The letter that accompanied the award and prize check stated that my piece “is outstanding”!

Right now my plan is to pick up this piece at the end of the Westerly show and display it along with some of my recent work at the Mansfield (CT) Historical Society Museum Opening Exhibit of Antique and Vintage Quilts on Sunday, June 1, 2014 – 1:30 – 4:30 p.m.  (I was invited to display my art quilts and I will also have an opportunity to discuss my designs and improvisational techniques with visitors.) Hope to see you there!!
