Quiltmaking – 75 years ago!!

So here is the monthly post.  I thought it would be interesting to post words from a diary of July 24th-26th, 1935 – 75 years ago – have things changed – maybe not.  This diary was written by a mother living with her daughter ( a quilt-maker), son-in-law, and grandson in 1935.

Wednesday, July 24th, 1935 – Ben has been ironing and doing other things.  Alice has made hankerchiefs and quilted.  I had a letter from Nellie.  Thursday, July 25th – Alice got a lot of hankerchiefs finished – Ben hung the storm windows.  I have been on the couch most all day.  Friday, July 26th – Ben mowed the lawn and went for berries.  Alice quilted 7 hours.  Three ladies came to see quilts and bought handkerchiefs.

Interesting – the ladies bought handkerchiefs – Alice must have know the value of an inventory that would appeal to all pocketbooks and needs.

So what has your day been like – quilting – ironing – or maybe that berry-picking!!
