“Presently, the quilts that I create are strongly influenced by my rural surroundings. Everyday activities are being incorporated into my art. My photos that record the cutting of hay fields being prepared to be rolled and packaged in white plastic and stacked like sculptures are now part of the visual images that make a statement about the seasonal changes that occur around me.”Catherine Whall Smith
